Be still and know that I Am God.
Psalm 46:10
Meditation means different things to different people. There are several types of meditation depending on what discipline one is practicing, and there are stand-alone meditations without regard of any particular discipline; but regardless of the vehicle, the destination for all is the same: To reach the deepest and most silent level of awareness. Practiced regularly, meditation cultivates the nervous system to reach and sustain the inner silence achieved during the meditation while fully engaged in the worldly life.
The mind is a place where thoughts happen. All the time. The purpose of meditation is to go beyond or behind the thoughts, and to meet our awareness, our Self. To achieve deep states of meditation requires daily practice. In some disciplines, like Kundalini yoga for example, meditation is only a part of the whole kriya, which comprises pranayama, asanas, chants, meditation, and relaxation. The practice of Qigong and Tai-Chi is a form of moving meditation. The Shaolin monk meditation is a specialized form of it that takes the monk a lifetime of dedication to achieve. We can achieve the level of proficiency of a Shaolin monk with only months of practice of Deep Meditation.
In a 24-hour period, we deep into meditative states unconsciously every so often, while meditation as an intentional practice is a learnt discipline. During the DeepMeditation© technique, the mind effortlessly settles inward while becoming increasingly alert, beyond thoughts, feelings, or outer awareness; which is the process of getting to the most silent level of inner awareness; the mind arrives at its source, at a state of profound silence and timeless wakefulness, or a field of pure consciousness. It is a completely natural state in which the mind is open only to itself, in which one experiences the inner vastness of pure knowledge, power, bliss, and unbounded awareness.
The key to growth is the introduction of higher
dimensions of consciousness into our awareness. ─Lao Zhu
As the mind settles, the body also settles down and gains exceptionally deep rest, thus enabling the softening and removal of deep-rooted stress, strain, and fatigue. Physiological functioning becomes balanced and integrated, and the entire nervous system becomes rejuvenated and revitalized. The DeepMeditation© technique does not control any aspect of mind or body. The beneficial changes that occur in the mind and body take place spontaneously as a by-product of reaching the field of pure consciousness.
At FullCircle Acupuncture HealthCentre, we will guide you through the learning of the important practice of DeepMeditation©.
